Charlie Brown Christmas Tree

Posted Nov 16 2012 8:27am

Oh my goodness, we finally made it to Friday. Is it just me or did this week just drag on and on?!

I know it might be a little early to start talking Christmas trees(only by a week though!!) but I am going to anyway.

The Christmas tree we have had for the last oh, 7-8 years was perfectly acceptable when we lived in a much smaller house. However, now that we live in a bigger house with much taller ceilings, our tree looks a bit pathetic out of proportion.

I think this picture gives you a clear example of what I am talking about. While I love the way I chose to decorate it, there is just too much distance between the ceiling and the top of the tree.

This year I vowed to buy a 9 foot tree even though I wasn’t happy about dropping the moolah on it. Geesh, Christmas trees are downright pricey!!

I am happy to say that after looking at many, many stores Lance found a winner and purchased it today. Out of all the places we looked including: Hobby Lobby, Sam’s, Garden Ridge and Walmart we actually picked the one from Wally World.

Since I don’t have it up and decorated just yet, I will cheat and use the photo from their website to give you an idea of what it looks like.

Once I get mine all nice and decorated I promise to post some pictures!! Hint hint…..Saturday, November 24th.

Before I move on, I have to share with you some of the junk that is out there for the same price as what we paid.

Take for example this poor little Charlie Brown Christmas tree at Garden Ridge. Who in their right minds would drop $250 on that!!!

I would say my trip to Trader Joe’s was pretty successful yesterday. I got out of there for under $40(a miracle I tell ya) but still got lots of goodies and some basic cooking supplies.

I found a few “Holiday” food items that I just couldn’t say no to, including that cranberry apple butter.

I know the cat cookies aren’t technically “Holiday-ish” but these are ginger flavored so I am going to say it counts. As for the pumpkin bread mix….I am making that this weekend. My momma is coming to stay a couple days so I will call that a special occasion and whip it up in her honor. ;-)

Some of my other purchases included: Shredded Brussel Sprouts, Hummus, Salsa Verde(the best EVER!!!), frozen organic spinach, organic quinoa, pineapple chips and a couple of other random items. I think I am all set for a couple weeks!!

Here in a bit I have to head out to pick up my race packet for tomorrow’s 5K. I am sure that will include lunch with my favorite date, Brandi and who knows, maybe a stop into a store or two. Goodness knows, I shouldn’t do any shopping because this lady needs to be on a budget(can we say Christmas gifts) but sometimes it is hard to resist.

For now though, it is time to fill my belly with some delicious breakfast. I will give you one guess as to what I am going to have. Yep, English Muffin….here I come :-) !!

When do you put up your Christmas tree or start decorating for the Holidays?

What fun stuff do you have planned for the weekend?
