Changes Abound

Hi friends, how was your day? :)

As you’ve probably noticed, things are looking a little different around here. For the past few months I’ve been working with web designer Cody Smith  to create a new feel for the site. Cody has been great and incredibly thorough and professional. If you’re in need of any site design work I highly recommend him!

There are still a few more tweaks to come in the next couple of weeks but this will be the basic layout so I hope you like!

Also coming soon:

* Updates to the ‘about’ and ‘pet’ pages including regular pet posts.

* More recipes and tips for maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

* A new ‘surprise’ page. Stay tuned… :)

I really want to continue to grow and develop the blog. I want this site to be a fun and welcoming place where you can come for inspiration and ideas for creating and maintaining a healthy, balanced life inside and out. Attitude of Gratitude

So lately I’ve been feeling a little bit crabby. Ok, a lot crabby. In fact, I’ve really been struggling to find the silver lining of any situation over the past couple weeks and I’m finding myself much more stressed as a result. I attribute a large part of my crabby mood to my aching back (chronic pain will do that to you) but the fact of the matter is that we all struggle with things from time to time. I know in my heart that the key to pulling out of it is to stay in a positive frame of mind and not to let myself be overcome by stress and negativity but sometimes it’s easier said than done.

Back in November  I started a gratitude journal on the blog and I think it really think it helped me put a positive spin on some difficult times. I’m a firm believer that positive thinking breeds more positivity and I’ve experienced firsthand how having a grateful attitude can bring great things into your life. I really want to make it a habit to be more thankful every day so I’m bringing the gratitude journal back for the month of May. For the rest of the month I’m going to list 3 things I’m grateful for every day and I invite you to join with me by listing anything you’re grateful for in the comments section below. Let’s see what kind of good vibes we can get going here. :)


This morning I didn’t have to be at work until 9 because of  my physical therapy appointment so I enjoyed a leisurely breakfast of Van’s flax waffles with coconut butter, cinnamon and splenda and a coffee banana smoothie.

Therapy was a little more of the same – stretching and mobility exercises – but today my therapist did some manual decompression on my back which actually really seemed to help even if only for a short while. I had a long day of surgeries and my back was definitely aching by the time it was over. Needless to say, I got through it.

The rest of the evening has been spent pretty much relaxing. I had a light dinner of baked cod with green beans and cherry tomatoes.


Plus several spoonfuls of peanut butter from a waning peanut butter jar. ;)

And on that note, I think it’s time for bed. Hope you’re having a relaxing evening – see you tomorrow!



Today I’m grateful for:

A late start – shaving even an hour off of my work day makes the long days that much more bearable.
