Busy Busy + A Coconut Peach-Banana Smoothie

Posted Sep 01 2011 1:01pm

September! Already! Its off to a good start though. Its a gorgeous day and I’ve been super productive. Taking a breather now, but back to work once I hit publish. This morning I got my workout in (3 separate 12 minute bodyrock workouts), practically inhaled my protein shake (side note: currently obsessed with frozen banana in my shake now. I think its seriously helping my recovery and improving my workouts for the next day. Post workout meals are SO important!! The sugars sweep the protein right into my muscles. Love.) and then I showered and headed out to the store + local farms

Only a glimpse of what I bought! Lots of produce as usual (a ton is not pictured). But since my zucchini is basically done and I want to make one more zuc bread, I splurged on the above zucchini. A whole $1! Okay, I’ll probably get 4 breads out of that one single zucchini :) So much good produce thats super cheap at the local farms. Also stocked up on peaches (see shake below!) apples, corn, and a million other things.

At the store I got some really good deals and saved a good amount of mula

And then came home to chug some kombucha, put everything away, and make my dad a shake for lunch

* I mentioned –> here that I live at home with my parents to help take care of my dad due to his health condition

He loves shakes for lunch and I try to pack as much nutrition as I can in a glass. Here’s what went into this Coconut-Peach Banana Superfood Smoothie

- coconut milk
-chia seeds + hemp seeds
-a good 2 teaspoons of spirulina
-sliced fresh peach
-frozen banana
-sun warrior protein (chocolate)
-handful of almonds
-ice + stevia + cinnamon to taste

He loved it :)

I’ve been busy busy and need to keep going! We’re having lots of company this weekend, which means I need to do lots of cooking beforehand.  Here’s the to-do for this afternoon:

- make hummus
- shred that massive zucchini, and make a zuc bread
- make a shrimp/blackbean/avocado/quinoa salad
-do something with all the peaches i just bought
-iron (ugh)
-cook dinner
-give acupuncture to a good friend who wants to quit smoking
- possibly make more granola bars with the peaches?
-feed the chickens/dogs/collect the eggs-usual outdoor routine
-meet up with friends tonight for drinks

Holy crap, I better start moving ;)

Q: Whats your favorite in-season fruit or veggie you are loving right now? If you couldn’t tell, I obviously love peppers. And peaches + local apples are so good right now!
