Broccoli Salad, Stir Fried Rice, Cashew Chicken…

Posted Jul 20 2010 12:00am

Once again, we managed to pump out another delicious meal with meat and veggies, nuts and seeds, and very little starch.  At the bottom left, you will see the stir fried rice which is simple to make and is in fact, real rice.  Yes, I ate rice again.  There is very little rice in there, and the reason that I ate the fluffy white stuff is because it also has beef, and was scrambled in olive oil, as well as two omega 3 eggs, along with some veggies.  If I am to enjoy rice, it is certainly this way…I could actually eat a whole plate of Chinese Stir Fried rice at the restaurants.

At the bottom right is the Cashew Chicken stir fry from yesterday, and at the top is a broccoli salad with roasted almonds, roasted pumpkin seeds, and roasted sun flower seeds.  Also in the broccoli mix is some raisins, red onion, mayo, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, real bacon bits and sesame seeds.

Fairly simple dinner actually.  All that had to be cooked was the stir fry rice and that took less than ten minutes because everything was chopped so small, and the salad was a five minute job because there is no need to cook anything for a broccoli salad.

No training today, so I am going to leave you with this amazing video…

Yes, I am a Crossfit junkie.  I can admit though, that as much as I am into Crossfit, I will agree that Crossfit is not the be all and end all of Strength and Conditioning, however for those who give the style an honest chance, they notice tremendous changes in their life.  As a coach, I have been involved in training for many years, and I can credit Crossfit for much of what I have learned over the years.  This is mainly due to the open source concept that is across the board in the Crossfit Community.  Seriously, for $25 per year you can not match the education and community aspect that one receives when a subscriber to the Crossfit Journal, and because there are now close to 2000 Crossfit affiliates, there is a tremendous amount of information available for free because the community is so giving.

In addition to Crossfit training, I also integrate some of the concepts that I have learned over the years, specifically with regards to athletes.  All athletes need to be strong, powerful, and have stamina, yet they also need to move effectively in all 3 planes of motion, they also need to change direction quickly and under pressure.  Rotation, agility and other drills that we generally see when training athletes can easily be blended into Crossfit workouts, just as Olympic lifting and burpees can be used to train athletes.  Toss in some lengthly mobility warmups and some Speed/Agility and Quickness drills and you have some pretty good training…not to mention fun.

Anyway, the Garage is just about done.  The siding has been started, the electrical is done and the walls can be painted soon.  I have the flooring, and just have to place the order for some more equipment, which will most likely happen next week.  If everything goes as planned, I should have my first workout by the end of next week!

Tell your friends and family to contact me if they are interested in training.

Until Next Time,

Karl
