Breast Cancer Awareness Month- Thermography

Posted Oct 04 2011 4:19pm
As many of you know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  This month is dedicated to help people learn more about Breast Cancer and the need for early detection.
Every year about 180,000 women in the US are diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 44,000 die of the disease.

The motto of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is

“Early Detection is Your Best Protection.”

I couldn’t agree with them more which is why I would like to introduce you to a Technology called

Thermography.
See this beautiful multi colored photo of me?!  Well this is a Thermal Image which detects blood flow patterns and areas of inflammation and asymmetry.  Thermography is a great tool for early detection of Breast Cancer.  Unlike Mammograms (the popular Breast Cancer Diagnostic Tool) Thermography is noninvasive, there is no harmful radiation, and it causes no pain or body contact.
Research shows that Thermograms can detect a tumor when it is only 256 cells (2 years old- the size of rice!)  On the other hand, mammograms cannot detect a tumor until it is 8 years old (over 4 billion cells and size of a dime!)

It has been drilled in many of our heads by countless doctors that every women should get a mammogram every year after they turn 40.  What these doctors are not telling you is that mammograms are not as helpful or safe as you might think.

Mammograms expose you to approximately 1,000 times the amount of radiation you’d get in a chest X-ray.  This radiation is stored in your cells and accumulates to significant levels over time if you’re getting the annual mammogram.  Also, during a mammogram your breast are being compressed.  This can damage breast tissue and may even open cancerous tumors.

You might be wondering– How is this done?!

Thermal Imaging is produced by an infrared camera.  This camera carefully scans the surface temperature of the body.  The digitized image can then be used to identify precise temperature patterns which differentiate hot and cold.

Thermography can also detect other areas of inflammation all over your body.  I’ve been having shoulder and stomach issues which my Thermography Exam helped me pin point it’s exact location and cause.
If you are interested in a  Thermography Exam and live in NYC contact- Thermography for Health NY. (212) 973-9425 Mention Peace Love Nutrition and get a Free Thermal Image! And Remember– Early Detection Saves lives.
