Boston Public Gardens

Posted Jul 28 2011 9:27am

A perfect summer day in Boston is truly something out of a picture book, or a book about ducklings .

In the spring and summer, on our rare but beautiful days, the Boston Public Gardens come alive. Of course, it’s a tourist attraction and a pit stop for school field trip groups, and the swan boats have their own draw. But all the locals come here too, to eat lunch and catch a few rays.

I guarantee that on a good day, you could find the following: jazz musician, acoustic guitarist, one-man-band, wedding or prom photo shoot, and a painter set up with an easel.

There might even be a swan and some baby ducklings, if you’re lucky.

I think you can learn a lot about a city by exploring their public gardens and green spaces. Golden Gate Park is the most beautiful and expansive public space I’ve seen so far. There is a museum, lake, ampitheater, floral gardens, japanese tea garden, and more.

What’s the most beautiful place near you?
