I’ve discovered a lot of new blogs lately (well, blogs that are new to me). It probably has something to do with the fact that I’m into reading Mommy Blogs for the very first time in my life.
One blog that I’ve been enjoying is called From Mrs. to Mama. Well, Becky (Mrs. Mama) is hosting a blog link-up today, and I thought it would be fun to participate by answering some of her questions.
Here it goes!
1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed?
I started The Grass Skirt in January 2011 because I was inspired by other blogs. Plus, I love to write and enjoy sharing information about health and wellness. Since then, my blog has evolved a lot, and I’m really proud of the changes. It was a bit unoriginal (if I must say so) in the very beginning and not much different from some other healthy living blogs. But then I began to add green beauty and home information, pregnancy updates, and more personal anecdotes, and I feel like I’ve really found my voice.
2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?
Yep! I went to Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut where I majored in English and minored in Sociology. To be honest, I thought my English degree would turn me into Carrie Bradshaw. I turned out to be more of a Charlotte York though… and couldn’t be happier. I just wish that I had her wardrobe!
3. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
I’m the queen of embarrassing moments, and picking just one is kind of a challenge. I guess I’ll go with the time that I was having a one-on-one meeting with my male boss in a conference room and randomly fell out of my chair. It had wheels and went flying into wall which made a ton of noise and sent my co-workers running to see what had happened. Unfortunately, I chose to wear a skirt that day, and when I landed on the floor (flat on my back), the skirt went flying up over my shirt. My boss just sat there looking both horrified and confused. This is the sort of thing that happens to me, but it is also the sort of thing that keeps my life interesting.
4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
Assuming I won a lot of money and not just $5 from a scratch-off ticket, I’d buy a new car for Michael. He’s a total sweetheart and recently bought a new car for me. He’s now driving my old car, but my man deserves some new wheels!
5. What day would you love to relive again?
I think it would be fun to relive my wedding day. The biggest reason is that it was the happiest day of my life. But I also have a second reason… I hated my hair that day and would love the opportunity to wear it differently. I have to say, I did not complain or throw any bridal tantrums. I just rolled with it and enjoyed the day (wearing my pretty dress was a great distraction from my hair anyway). In all fairness, I was partly to blame for the hair regret. I had the bright idea to dye it dark brown just a few months beforehand and look nothing like myself in photos, and then the stylist just didn’t do a very good job with it. It looked like I did it myself. One of my bridesmaids actually offered to redo it for me (none of them had the heart to tell me it looked bad, but I knew it did), but I just left it alone and danced the night away. Still, I’d definitely change my hair if I could relive that day!
Speaking of hair, thank you so much for all of the sweet compliments on my new haircut and color! After living with it for a few days, I decided that I want another inch or so chopped off. I know… who am I? I’m actually going back to see Jessi later this morning, so she can work more of her magic on me. I’ll be sure to snap another photo for you all to see!
OK, now it is your turn to answer one (or all) of the questions above. If you don’t have a blog, just post the answers in the comments section. If you do have a blog, be sure to link back here, so we can see your answers!
Hahaha, I’ve definitely had an embarrassing moment like that before! Luckily, not in front of my boss (although the embarrassing moment that I had at work was pretty bad too, maybe worse haha), but I have had a moment like there where I totally fall and my skirt reveals wayyy too much. Good times, good times.
Congrats on the baby!! Ha you can visit Arizona just as long as I can come visit North Carolina. For some reason I think that would be a place I could live. I am tired of the desert after living in it all my life. Fun place to visit though! So glad to find your blog!
