Watch out now! I’m about to bury this week’s weight results under a post about my classes. Loving it!
First, a story:
A few summers ago, I was walking around the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago when I stumbled upon one of many garage sales. What made this one so special? There, in front of me, was a beautiful crate stacked to the top with a veritable display of artistic media. On top of that crate stood a tiny notecard with $10 hastily scrawled on it. I bought it.
Some months passed before I actually pulled out the contents of that box. Oils, inks, pastels, chalk, acrylics, tiny canvases — things I had used, wanted to use, and would never use. A bundle of coloring pencils went into the “never use” pile until this morning.
In an hour and a half, I will have to take my first Biology exam in over a decade. The professor gave a peace offering to the class by allowing us to bring in a diagram of a eukaryotic cell.
Alors, voila! This is art, no?
Ha! Not really, but making this diagram just tickles me. I’m a student again. Who knew? What’s next, building a plant cell out of homemade play dough?
My favorite part about this sketch is all the extra stuff I added in there – like definitions. The professor didn’t state what could or couldn’t go onto this diagram, so I made it a cheat sheet.
I do wish I had spent the time I had used making this to make something a little bit less school-related. Ah well, we do what we have to do.
As for this week’s number: 296.0. DAMNIT! This is a weight loss blog, right? Where is the weight loss? Trust me, I’m trying. Now I need to find what I am doing wrong…..
