Being health concious is easy?

About two and a half years ago I completely transformed the way I eat, the way I relate to food and the way I work out (thanks to my trainer). This lifestyle is not foreign to me, however, given my new ground rules this last week has been full of unexpected surprises.

The biggest surprise is how easy it has been to stick to the plan. My trainer gives me a week’s worth of workouts and I make a promise at the start of the week which days I will workout and then I just do it. No skipping days, no skipping workouts, no complaining about an extra set or weight. It seems like such a silly simple thing but just commiting, just saying to myself I am going to do this workout exactly as it is written on this paper has been so liberating.

Next up is my eating. This part I manage on my own. I have enough knowledge of clean eating that I am developing menus for myself. I did the same thing as with the workouts. I made a plan: I made a menu for the week, a grocery list and sent it to my trainer as my promise for the week. I now don’t have to think about what I’m going to eat for the day, I just check the list.

I won’t typically post my entire meal plan and what I ate. That boring. Usually I’ll choose a highlight and post a picture and/or a recipe.

So you get a sense of what I’m eating here’s how the meals went today:
Meal 1 — 8am 2 eggs sunny side up
Meal 2 — 10am banana
Meal 3 — 12.15pm Edamame (no salt), 1/2 serving seaweed salad, 2 pc Salmon sushi, 1 pc Salmon Nigiri w/ brown rice
Meal 4 — 4pm Edamame (no salt), 1/2 serving seaweed salad, 2 pc Salmon sushi, 1 pc Salmon Nigiri w/ brown rice
Meal 5 — 8.30pm Chicken, 5 turkey meatballs, zucchini, 2 TBS homemade guacamole, 1/2 cup mashed potatoes

Water — 4 L, 8oz iced tea

It’s mostly been easy and fun this week, however I did have a moment today where I wanted to throw in the towel and never post another blog, in fact I wanted to delete it, I wanted everyone to forget about it. And then I remembered that I had sent it to over 40 people! And then I remembered who these people are… my friends, family, supporters, people I care about and people who care about me, people who want to follow this journey. All I have to say it thanks for being who you are and being in my life, without you I would have deleted my blog the day after I created it. :)

Each day I will post at the end of the blog how I did with the ground rules for the day.

Ground Rules Status Check
• Schedule my workouts in my calendar and do them as intended — did the workout, did not put it in my calender
• Schedule time (at least 15 mintes) in my calendar to work on Eating 101 and do it — did not schedule time and did not do it
• Log my food & liquid intake — done
• Log workouts — done
• Post on this blog — done
