Happy Memorial Day to all of my American readers and Happy Monday to the rest. I know that a lot of you will be barbequing today, so I thought I’d share what a typical BBQ around here looks like.
We got back from our lake house this afternoon and I think nobody really thought about what we were going to have for dinner. Luckily my mom always has steaks, sausages and other BBQ essentials in the freezer so we decided to create a BBQ feast. Usually when we grill it’s something we plan ahead so there’s always lots of salads to choose from. We quite like tomato and potato salad along with a simple green salad. Since today’s dinner came together in less than an hour there weren’t quite as many options to choose from but it was still delicious. Mo was in charge of the meat and he did a great job as usual. The meat was tender and flavorful and the grilled halloumi was grilled to perfection.
As you can see our BBQ really revolves around a gigantic bowl of salad. We had different steaks and a couple of burgers to choose from and we Mo also grilled some halloumi cheese together with the meat. I think this was the first time ever that we grilled the halloumi on a proper grill. We usually prepare it in a pan but to be honest it tastes so much better directly off the grill. The cool squeaky noise the cheese make while chewing remains
Along side my huge pile of salad I had halloumi and chose one of the chicken burgers instead of steak. These burgers were filled with cheese and the combo of cheese and meat is irresistible to me. That’s why I would never say no to cordon bleu. I also had potatoes en papillote on the side with some (not pictured) garlic-Greek yoghurt.
My brother created a burger using a leftover breakfast bread roll, ketchup and mustard. I wonder who he was thinking of whilst preparing his burger
Can’t wait to see what you guys ate today!
Have a great week!
