Banana Recipes, Ways to Use Extra Bananas, Sports Fan?

Posted Oct 24 2010 11:37am
Hi Friends!  How's your weekend going so far?  Have you been enjoying time off work and school?  Hopefully you've gotten in some R & R time.  God knows we all need more of that!

Do you ever have ripe bananas that need using up?  I've posted before about Using Up Bananas Here and you all chimed in with some of your favorite ways.

I have some recipes that may help use up your bananas:
All are vegan and gluten free.

Many use one bowl and spoon to save on dishes.

Most are raw or no-bake to save on time.

From yesterday's post about Halloween , I loved hearing your stories of your fave Halloween memories and what you loved dressing up as when you were a kid.

Halloween 2009.  Yes to everyone who commented, she has grown a ton in the last year, hasn't she!
Some of you said you're going out this year and dressing up , but most of you said you're sitting it out.

I found out it's strongly encouraged that I get dressed up this year.  What should I go as?

Questions
1. Best Thing You've Ate or Done over the weekend?
I went on a couple nice walks with the family, I drank some great hot coffee on cold dreary days, and I went to the mall.  Oh, it was fun and productive!  Details tomorrow.

2.  Do you like bananas?
This may sound strange, but I know Katie will concur, I don't really like bananas that much.  Surprising, huh, after seeing all these banana recipes!

Well, I take that back a bit.  I like bananas in recipes.  Not really a fan of just digging into a plain raw banana.  I used to be able to eat plain, raw bananas, but in the past 5 years or so, never.  I only use them in my cooking or in recipes.

In fact, I think I have a little OAS ( oral allergy syndrome ) to raw bananas since my mouth and lips swell up and feel tingly and red after eating raw bananas.  Nothing like my good ole food allergies and intolerances to the rescue.  However, when cooked or in other recipes, they don't seem to bother me.  And they don't always bother me raw, either.  That's the thing about food intolerances; there can be a lot of randomness and shades of gray.

3. What's your favorite way to use extra bananas or eat bananas?
Please share yours!

4. Are you a football fan?  Or a Sports Fan?
I am not a fan.  It's not that I'm "not a fan" it's just that I simply do not care.  At all.  I have so many other things I would rather be doing than parked in front of the tv for 3+ hours.  To each his or her own though with watching sports.  Or tv, or movies, or whatever you like to do with your free time.

Scott loves the Chicago Bears and it's his one pleasure and so he goes to the sports bar where the game is televised on Sundays during football season and watches the Bears.  And I am happy he has that downtime to unwind and chill.

I admit, when we were first married and even before Skylar, I slightly resented the fact that he'd rather hang out is a loud sports bar for 3-4 hours with a bunch of guys, eating gross-to-me food, rather than being with me.  But I realized that watching his team is his relaxation and way to unwind, decompress, and recharge for the week ahead.  We all need, and deserve, that!  So I am happy for him now.

Have a great rest of your weekend and I'm off to....the mall for Round 2 of my cocktail dress shopping adventures my Food Buzz Trip .  More on that tomorrow.

But first I am headed down to the garage to do a little at-home workoutGotta get my lift-n-yoga on.

Have a great Sunday!
