After feeling a little stressed last Friday, this weekend was just what the doctor ordered.
I guess Old Man Winter got moody this weekend and decided to bring a frigid cold front through with the rain. Needless to say, it was a dreary weekend. Dreary, yet wonderfully cozy and relaxing!
I knew it was going to be a great weekend when Friday night I was able to satisfy a craving…
WOW- Hit. The. Spot. I like ‘em HOT, too. Baby D likes spicy food, just like Mom.
And on Saturday, after a few errands, we holed up inside for the afternoon. Hubbs & Bug got to work on… PAINTING THE NURSERY!
No, we don’t know the sex yet, so this won’t give anything away
While I focused on a task with a more pleasant, less harmful smell…
I used THIS recipe, and it’s a winner!
A simple list of ingredients made it easy and fun to make… while watching a classic.
“Fish are friends- not food!”
Flour, salt and baking soda in one bowl.
2 eggs and vanilla extract in another.
Meanwhile, I toasted my walnuts to bring out their delicious nutty flavor.
I’m a versatile baker and wasn’t afraid to use my avocado slicer to mash the bananas.
Worked like a charm.
Then I brought out the big guns (AKA the Kitchen Aid Mixer) to get to work on creaming the butter and sugar.
Once perfectly creamy, in went the eggs and the bananas…
The recipe warned that the batter would look curdled, and that it was normal. Good thing they gave me the heads up, because I was worried!
The came the flour and the nuts.
Then into the loaf pan.
Someone thought it already smelled pretty good …
55 minutes later, the house smelled so cozy and delicious, and the bread was ready!
I had to taste it while it was fresh and warm, of course!
YUM! I loved this recipe because it wasn’t too sweet- just right. Hubbs and I enjoyed a buttered piece fresh from the oven, then settled in for a cozy night at home…
What is your favorite kind of homemade bread?
This was my first bread baking experiment, and it was much easier than I anticipated. I’d love some recommendations on other delicious types of bread to make at home. Let’s hear ‘em!
