Hello everyone, and Happy Sunday! How has your weekend been? We haven’t met with each other since early afternoon yesterday, so we have a bit of catching up to do. Let’s get to it.
After I left you yesterday , Ben and I spent some time watching the Olympics and relaxing. The weather was very strange yesterday with little spurts of sun here and there, but with rain and dark skies for the majority of the day. After a quick shower, we decided to take a ride to his sister, Danielle, and brother-in-law, Russ’s house, to visit with them and his little nephew, Nathan for a bit.
Since it was too late for lunch, I grabbed a banana and had a piece of fruit
along with a a Chocolate Chip Clif Kid ZBar in the car to hold me over until dinner.
A nice, cold iced coffee helped too!
We had a fantastic time visiting, watching the Yankees play, catching up, and playing games as well as being entertained by Nathan!
He is just too cute, and he is really growing up fast! We haven’t seen him in a couple of weeks, and within that short time he has really matured even more! We had many laughs and a very fun and relaxing time. :)
Since Misty May Treanor is my favorite women athlete, I was more than focused on watching her and Kerri Walsh play their first match, so after controlling the television like a nut cheering on the duo and seeing them win the preliminaries, Ben and I headed home.
By the time we got back home it was already close to 9:30 PM, so Ben suggested stopping the The Cranford Hotel for dinner, and I enjoyed a delicious salad as my meal.
A bed of baby spinach leaves were topped with red onions, feta cheese, kalamata olives, chopped walnuts, and tender, juicy grilled chicken.
It was SO flavorful and filled with so many textures, I didn’t use a drop of dressing. The walnuts and feta stole the show.
Once we came home, we curled up on the couch and watched Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis in, “The Siege,”. It is a fabulous movie, but then again I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Denzel Washington movie I haven’t loved. After a cup of red grapes, it was time for a very late bedtime!
Since Ben’s baseball game was canceled today due to the rain and since today is a rest day for me, Ben and I decided to sleep in once again this morning. Two days in a row = a very spoiled Angela
I began by boiling 1 cup of skim milk before stirring in a half cup of Quaker Old Fashioned Oats. I cooked the mixture for about 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring it occasionally, to make a nice chewy pot of plain oats.
Once the oatmeal was cooked, I put it in my bowl and stirred in 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed and 1/2 of a mashed banana. The oatmeal was then flavored with two more classic ingredients in a loaf of banana bread – 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla and 1/2 of a packet of Stevia . The bowl was topped with the other half of the banana, sliced,
as well as some cinnamon and a 1/2 tablespoon of Peanut Butter & Co. Smooth Operator peanut butter for some extra protein and healthy fats (Some chopped walnuts or pecans on top would be great too!).
A hot mug of House Blend coffee with a little skim milk rounded out my meal.
This bowl was filling, balanced , and had a variety of different tastes and textures! The soft, warm bananas combined with the simplicity of the vanilla and cinnamon made this bowl perfectly sweet, deliciously satisfying, and tasting just like a slice of comforting banana bread!
Hope your day has been a great one!
