Balancing Money–Plan Your Trip

Posted Jan 15 2011 5:39pm

I acquired a lot of important stuff today!!

I had a few things in mind that I wanted to get today and I ended up getting all of them and then some!  Best part is, I used coupons on EVERYTHING I bought today.

First lets start with the bag.  As you may have read in this earlier post , I have my sacred pink Jansport with me when I go to NYC.  My Jansport is very very old and has served me well.  The thing is . . . I carry so much stuff that its getting overwhelming to walk that far with all that heavy stuff.

So I wanted something that gave me the convenience of a back pack, but something I could also push along if I needed to, and I had some birthday money left over so . . .

                               ROLLING BACK PACK!!

It took me forever to pick out this color as they had so many choices over at eBags (15% off AND free shipping!) but I finally settled on this one.  I’m still in the Jansport family and I will still keep my pink one but its time to move on!

I also was able to get a pair of chocolate brown BEARPAW shoes from Famous Footwear.  I was dead set on UGGS for a while and I was ready to spend the money on them, but after talking to a lot of people that had them, I was surprised to find out that UGGS don’t have very good traction.  Traction and warmth is really what I’m looking for and these had both.  Plus they were regularly $90 marked down to $60 and I had a $10 off coupon from the Entertainment Book !  $50 for me!!

We ventured over to Kohl’s next because I have a 30% off coupon and we ended up finding nice pillows on sale for $5 plus the 30% off!  I also got some earplugs for us to help us sleep but I have them in now and I’m nervous that I wont be able to hear my alarm go off!! I guess they work .  .  . what?

Stop and Shop was next for some random ingredients I needed to pick up.  Every once in a while I have a great food shop where everything is on sale.  I got a bunch of Larabars I havent tried for $1 each and I also got a TON of reduced produce that still has life to it!

Pomegranates, orange peppers, vine ripened tomatoes and bananas all for under $1.50 each.

*sigh*

I have shoppers overload right now.  Im going to enjoy it though because its not often I get to buy things like this for myself anymore.  With all the coupons and sales I saved $38 from everything I purchased.

TODAYS MORAL:  Plan your shopping trip while your at home so you can see what deals and coupons places have! I made sure I knew where the best price was for everything and took advantage of the coupons I had.

Time to finish the rest of the list . . . then an early bed time for a 5am wake up call!!

Do you sometimes have days where you have a great shop and some that totally suck?  When I have those days I put everything back and go another day.
