Back on the Horse

Posted Feb 07 2012 12:00am

So I left you yesterday with less than steller reports of sleep, exercise and eats.

You know this means my weekend was fabulous. However, this also means I need to jump-start myself into a healthy week once again.

Getting back on the proverbial horse. Easier said than done. But necessary, nonetheless.

That means skipping out on any caffeine in the afternoon to assure myself a full night of sleep would happen. Even if we were close to a full afternoon of sleep on top of the keyboard.

It seemed to be the trend throughout the entire office. That made me feel better.

Getting back on the horse also means skipping out on the bagels (or more importantly, the cream cheese- let’s be real) in the break room and focusing on food brought in from home. Green! That’s a color that was lacking all weekend. Unless you count the spinach in the cheese dip. There was that, at least.

Ignore the Diet Coke. It happened at like 12:01. Barely considered “afternoon caffeine” at all. Gimme a break.

It was only one diet coke, but the veggie loading didn’t stop there.

I just kept piling it on with dinner. Sweet potatoes have a special place in my heart. However, they’re always that one thing in my pantry that have to threaten to start going bad before I’ll take notice.

What do ya know? Seems to be my same behavior pattern when it comes to men I date. Neat!

Anyway, I like to think all those vitamins/minerals/antioxidants got to work in some magical way throughout the night (first solid sleep in a few days). I feel much more chipper today. And didn’t look so angry when entering the gym. You’re welcome, world.

My energy wasn’t at 100%, so I took the level down a notch on both the stairmill and elliptical, but still got in 45 minutes of cardio before a couple of circuits with Jillian.

Enough effort to make it perfectly acceptable to collapse on the couch once I return home from the office.

And really- is there anything else more perfect to do on a Tuesday? Other than stay in bed with the covers over my head, of course.

But this lady needs to earn cash money to live. So off to work I go…

Hi ho, hi ho… meh.
