I’m definitely an avocado addict! Like you, I probably go through 5 each week. They’re just so GOOD! Recently I’ve discovered they’re quite tasty as dessert, especially in a rich chocolate pudding. Yum!

Erin – I do have an important question for you. How do you keep the other half from going brown if you do not eat the whole thing? I was on an egg kick for a bit and love my smoothies for breakfast. Have a Great Weekend:)
I have the same issue with not finishing the whole avocado and wanting to save it for later. I slice the avocado in half and then store it in a plastic bag or airtight container face down with the pit still inside. It slows down the browning process and can keep for up to 2 days. If it is brown when you remove it from the fridge, try scraping off the top part. It should be nice and green underneath.
I’m a bit peculiar when it comes to avocado – I hate it on its own but LOVE guacamole. I think it’s the texture that i dislike so much which isn’t really an issue with guac. It’s too bad though, because all these recipes look so fun! Have a great weekend
Hi Erin, so I LOVE avocados BUT I find that they’re never the right type of ripeness- they’re always too fresh and need more time or they’re too far gone. I don’t even buy them anymore because I always throw them out – either I try to eat them too early or too late and they’re both pretty gross. Any suggestions so that I start enjoying them more often???
Hi Erin! If you buy an avocado and it is very hard, you can speed up the ripening process by placing it (whole)in a brown paper bag for about 3 days. If you are concerned about your avocados getting too ripe, you can store them in the fridge for about 5 days. I buy 5 of them once a week and never have problems with them going bad because I store them this way. Hope this helps!
