On Tuesday my mom, sister and I took Ella to Linvilla Orchards . This was her first trip to the pumpkin patch!
I was very trigger happy so prepare…
I love Halloween. The smell of hay. The whole feel of the season. It brings back so many fun memories as a kid—playing with my cousins and siblings—haunted houses, hayrides and filling our pillow cases with endless amounts of candy.
Halloween just doesn’t seem like it’s the same as it was when we were kids. I have noticed less trick or treaters in the neighborhoods as the years went on. Growing up we would run out of candy every year. Now my mom doesn’t even get one knock at her door!
Now it’s time to start some new fall traditions with Ella Weez! First things first…off to the hayride!
Ella had to bring her new pumpkin along…
Big bird and I were both picking hay out of areas that should no be entered.
We stopped for some funny face photos…Ella knew just how to pose with Grammy and Aunt Carly:
best. picture. ever.
Then we picked out some pumpkins and went to the shops to see what goodies they had…
I was excited to see blackstrap molasses for $4.00. It’s always good to have for baking, especially for the baby! It’s loaded with iron and it a good alternative to sugar in moderation.
I was salivating looking at the apple butter and pumpkin butter..but held off on buying any. I plan to possibly make some in the slow cooker with the apples we picked.
We did grab a little produce for the road! All Ella was interested in were her kale chips that she brought along. That baby and her kale chips , I tell yah.
After that we drove over to pick some apples!
Ella was in heaven!
It was a perfect day.
We all had such a great time.
I was all about the Fuji’s and the Honeycrisps…and Granny Smith for baking of course!
It was so nice to go during the week, no crowds!
I just adore her to pieces.
We have lots of apple recipes to get working on! Prepare yourselves!
PS—check out the awesome pumpkin we picked out! I don’t even want to carve it I think it looks so cool! However..that thing probably has lots of yummy seeds!
