Salute to Summer ~
One of my favorite, refreshing"adult" beverages...
The Aperol Spritz.
This Italian Classic Aperitif - is made with Aperol, Prosecco, a splash of soda - and is garnished with fresh citrus.
Aperol only became available in the US in 2006. While the Aperol recipe was originally created in 1919 - it only gained popularity in Italy after WW II.
It is a blend of select roots, herbs, and bitter orange.
Aperol is similar to Campari and is made by the Campari Company.
In comparison, it is a tad lighter in flavor, not quite as bitter, and has a cleaner finish.
Additionally, there is half the amount of alcohol - compared to Campari.
Obviously, you can substitute any Champagne or Sparkling Wine for the Italian Prosecco.
