Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Friday evening!
After I left off this morning I packed up my fanny pack with some running necessities! I knew I would be running 8 miles today so I packed some energy gel, my ipod, some water, my keys, some pepper spray (just in case!) and my phone! I really like this fanny pack/belt! It is perfect for running, biking, and walking!
Michelle and Casey were both in class this morning so I ran 2 miles with Mitsy and then set off to run the other 6 by myself. It was a cool and breezy day and perfect for running! I only needed a small jacket! The scenery was really pretty too!
Just as I was listening to snow patrol and thinking things couldn’t get any better I saw….
I don’t know if you can see him…but that little dot is Casey on his bike! He rode his bike to meet up with me on my run after he got out of class! It was such a wonderful surprise! I tried to eat the energy gel on mile 5…but it was a little bit too sweet for me I think. And it made me a little nervous that I wasn’t exactly sure how to pronounce some of the ingredients on the back. Michelle and I had been using shot bloks on our long runs so far and I think I will probably stick with those from now on! Or I think I might try to make my own in the very near future!
After running/riding back home, we were both really hungry but pressed for time! There is a subway right down the road from the apartment…so we both went and took advantage of the FebruANY deal (where you can have any foot-long sandwich for $5). I got the turkey and black forest ham on wheat bread. I also had a a few slices of American cheese, every type of veggie (minus jalapeños!), and a little sweet onion dressing! I ate half of my foot-long sandwich and I also had half of a raspberry cheesecake cookie! They were both really good!
After eating lunch I showered and headed to work with a kiwi and large water bottle in hand! Work went really well and when I got off me and Casey met Michelle and her boyfriend for dinner at Parkway Grill! I have to admit that I almost never eat out. As a college student, I am on a pretty strict budget and I honestly enjoy and prefer making my own meals and knowing exactly what went into everything! Today flew by so fast though and I know that there are certain days when it’s really hard to make a full meal. This is why I love to have frozen leftover soups or other quick and healthy meals that I can make in a jiffy! But tonight was a special splurge and completely uncommon! Especially since I had already eaten out for lunch!
I started out with a really nice salad…
I always ask for my dressing on the side and give my croutons to Casey. Did you know that some salads that are available from certain restaurants have up to 500 calories worth of dressing on them? It’s true! By asking for my dressing on side, I can portion out my usual 2 tbs and save a lot of calories and enjoy the taste of my veggies a little more!
When I go out I always try to order something that I typically wouldn’t make on my own! I had the fish taco tonight and it was absolutely wonderful! Can you believe this is the first fish taco I have ever had? It was REALLY good! There was even more salad on the side!
Spending time with Michelle, her boyfriend, and Casey was a lot of fun! Not eating out very often makes the times I do really special! And I now have half of a sandwich from Subway AND a fish taco leftover for tomorrow or the next day!
After dinner tonight we stopped by Casey’s family’s house! I really love Casey’s family! They are all so wonderful! Casey’s brother Dusty showed us his new golf clubs tonight and they were really, really nice looking! And Casey’s other brother Cody got a new laptop this week and we all watched and listened to funny YouTube videos and had a really great time! I am so blessed to have them all in my life!
My sweet tooth just kicked in and I am currently eating a small piece of dark chocolate as I write this! I hope you all have a wonderful night! See you tomorrow!
Have you ever had fish tacos? I am a big fish lover and I can’t believe I have never had these before! They were SO good!
