I normally sit down at my computer and know exactly what I want to post about. That is not the case today. My grandparents are in town and I’ve been entertaining them most of the day so my heads been in other places. I finally had a second to blog while Remmie is sleeping and it hit me what I needed to post about as I shoved my third handful of cashews in my mouth….
It’s not as serious or scary as you think, but I wanted to touch on the little things I find I cannot stop eating!
1. Whole Raw Cashews
There is something about these little guys that gets me. I know this is probably a better snack than potato chips but I could eat a whole bag in one sitting if I didn’t lock them in the cupboard. Cashews contain a good fat that our bodies need (as do other nuts as well), amino acids, and protein, but too much of these bad boys is not a great idea. Too much of a good fat can lead to be a bad fat, and I always notice I’m a little bloated after eating a lot of them. The answer to this addiction is to substitute cashews with some other nut I’m not drawn to in the cupboard when I bake. The problem is I just bought a bag at Trader Joes! Maybe that will be good for my self control?
I love love love Grapes! Again, grapes are an awesome go to snack! The problem for me is they are never just a snack! I can eat and eat and eat grapes all day long. For me, eating a lot of grapes (which I often do) results in too much fiber and natural sugar in my system.
3. Sweet Potato Chips
Don’t those look tasty? Again, I can never just eat one! I love anything sweet potato and before you know it, half the bag is gone:)
4. Little Tasty Treats
I love a little treat after meals and I always crave it after lunch. These are full of great ingredients that my body loves but I wonder if I’ve trained my body to “need” a treat after eating.
Are you seeing a pattern here? The issue is not the food I’m addicted to, it’s the amount. I have decided that for a week, and hopefully this habit continues, I am going to let my self eat these foods but test myself with smaller portions. I may have to have my husband monitor me haha! But don’t get me wrong, I am in no way saying these foods should be avoided because they are all really great, I just need a lesson in self control! I am grateful I’m not addicted to Soda or french fries so I think this little challenge will be fun. Maybe I’ll learn something about my body and maybe I don’t need a sweet treat after lunch everyday.
