Adam’s choice + Facebook clean-up.

Posted Jan 07 2011 7:11pm

Last night I implemented one of this years parental goals : Adam’s choice nights. I wanted to give Adam at least one night per week that was totally under his control. The days, weeks, and months pass by so quickly—so this is a great way for us to keep our family time in check.

His choice? Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He is about halfway through the book—so he wanted to watch the movie but only up until the point that he had reached in the book.

He kept commenting: ‘oh my gosh, this is so different from the book. They totally skipped the part where [insert section of book]!’ Too cute!

I’m an HP lover myself, so no complaints about this choice night!

I took advantage of our movie-watching by doing some strength training. What can I say? I like to multitask.

I grabbed a pair of 8lb dumbbells, a resistance band, a stability ball, and my yoga mat. Using this equipment, I did a random hodgepodge of floor/ball exercises that probably don’t even have names. Winking smile<—P.S. I love the word ‘hodgepodge.’

I’m thinking of doing an at-home workout video to show you guys! Thoughts?

I started this lovely Friday (!!) morning with a bowl of peanut flour oats + an iced coffee!

In the bowl:

  • 1/3 C. oats
  • 1 T. chia seeds
  • 1/3 C. peanut flour
  • cinnamon
  • 1 mini scoop of stevia
  • 1 C. water
  • sliced banana

This was missing something. And that something is almond butter! Note to self: bring a jar of AB to work!

Insert: blog-reading, Facebook sweeping, and e-mail sending. <—yep, I’m a receptionist so this is what I do at work! During the semester, I read blogs do homework. Getting paid to do homework? You can’t beat that!

Facebook clean-up=deleting ‘friends.’ I got rid of about 200 ‘friends’ and boy does it feel refreshing!

Basically, if I:

a.) don’t know who you are

b.) wouldn’t talk to you if I saw you on the street

or c.) am annoyed by your constant (and TMI) status updates

then, sorry Charlie but you are history.

Lunch was a veggie bowl with edamame + a toasted Bagel thin.

Midafternoon I enjoyed a chopped apple + a clementine.

While packing up to leave work, I noticed something comical:

My purse is larger than my book bag!

No explanation for that one!

Plans for the night include:

  • enjoying some wine
  • finally using my rice cooker
  • watching a movie with the family

In that order.

Have a fab night!
