Before going to Miami last week, Annie (one of my best friends and travel buddy) saw on the Today show a juice shop not far from our hotel. She texted me and said we had to go! Our first day there we walked the 2 miles there and each picked up two juices, one for that day and one for the next and on the third day we headed back for an Acai bowl!
My beautiful and delicious bowl from Jugofresh was full of fresh fruit and brazil nut crumble . Brazil nut crumbles were chewy bites that were nutty and both a little sweet and salty. I recently posted my recipe for an acai bowl here but after having this one I wanted to try to recreate it and revamp mine a little.
Pretty close to the original, right?
I scoured the internet for a recipe for Brazil nut crumbles. From my taste assessment I tasted chocolate or cacao, dates, coconut, walnuts, and salt. I didn't find a good recipe and decided that I'm going to give it a go next week but for now I headed to Whole Foods and studied there bins. I found there version of the bites!
Tropical Acai Bowl with Brazil Nut Bites Recipe makes 1 big bowl or 2 small bowls 1 Frozen Acai Pack 1/2 Tbsp Honey 6 oz. Unsweetened coconut milk or Almond milk 1/2 banana 1/2 cup frozen blueberries 1 chopped Kiwi 1/2 of a Mango (cut into small pieces) Brazil Nut Crumbles Shredded Coconut
In a blender, blend the frozen acai, honey, unsweetened coconut or almond milk, banana, and frozen blueberries until a smooth texture. Pour into a bowl and top with kiwi, mango, nut crumbles and coconut flakes.
The Brazil nut bites add some protein and healthy fat to the bowl, making it a complete meal. Check back next week to see if I mastered making my own bites!
