Today was a wonderful Sunday! It was active yet filled with friends and great food. I even have a new recipe at the bottom of tonight’s post!
Bo conquered his 17 mile long run while I was attending my 3rd yoga class in a week with Lauren. This morning’s class was a Vinyasa Level 2/3 which means more inversions and challenging poses than normal. I was in pain and pushing myself to the limit during the class but afterwards, I have to admit, I felt amazing. I can’t decide whether I want to continue trying this class 2-3 times per month or find one that I enjoy more. How do you decide between the challenge or the relaxing classes?
Bo followed my same route for his 17 miler except he extended the route up the Hudson River greenway past the George Washington Bridge instead of looping back. He had a scenic subway ride home complete with breakdancers but welcomed the opportunity to stretch during the ride.
Unfortunately he was freezing since 2-3 miles of his run were done in the cool rain. The high in New York City today was only 71 degrees which meant rain and the river breeze made for cool running temperatures. However, his new CWX compression shorts kept him comfortable the entire time. Thanks for all your great suggestions in regards to chafe prevention!
It’s definitely time for new running shoes since he ended the run with 3 new blisters, including one the size of a half dollar coin on his right arch.
Any other ideas what could cause constant blisters in this area?
After our busy mornings we relaxed and cleaned the apartment since we had guests coming over. We broke our normal Sunday night rule for our good friends, Geoff and Elizabeth. Geoff and Elizabeth are two of Bo’s closest friends from Georgia Tech which means that after six years of friendship we all share many inside jokes and memories. Since I didn’t capture a picture of them tonight, I’ll share the pictures I have from a memorable night back in 2005. Clearly we have way too much fun together.

Unfortunately, our schedules have not aligned lately which has made double dates difficult. Tonight was finally a night that worked for both of us. What better way to spend a Sunday night than cooking together?
We were all craving fish and Asian which made our Whole Foods trip much easier. Tonight’s menu included:
Healthy Asian Cole Slaw
Poached Chilean Sea Bass in a Miso Mushroom Broth
Steamed Broccoli
The entire meal was easy, flavorful, and delicious! I love cooking with friends and family. Similar to long runs, it makes it so much fun!
The Journey:
The Finished Products:
Healthy Asian Cole Slaw
1 container 0% Plain Greek Yogurt (Chobani or Fage)
1/4 c Peanut Butter
1/8 c Rice Wine Vinegar or until desired consistency
Juice from 1 lime
1/2 Head Napa Cabbage chopped and shredded
1 carrot chopped in coins
1 package edamame
Handful of chopped peanuts
Dash salt & pepper
Combine yogurt, rice wine vinegar, lime juice, and peanut butter in food processor. Chop/grind until smooth. Combine chopped cabbage, carrots, and edamame in a large bowl. Pour dressing over salad and toss to coat. Sprinkle chopped peanuts on top with a dash of salt and pepper.
Enjoy!
