This past weekend Ryan and I headed west to visit our good friends who recently moved to San Francisco. I have been before but it is a completely different visit when you get to stay in a cool neighborhood versus a touristy part of town. We had nothing planned but so much we wanted to do. Traveling there from Chicago on Wednesday night was quite the evening, flight delayed almost 7 hours and then arriving at 4:30am on Thursday...talk about tired. Upon arrival, my friend Erin joked with me about running when I got to her house and some might call me crazy but at 6am we took off on a 6 mile run. I have to say it really helped to kick the jet lag by getting some sun and when we finished I took a shower and a quick nap and then was able to start the day! (by the way, running in SF is no joke but I loved running in the city with the hills, if I moved there I really think I would get a nicer rear) !
The weekend in pictures:
Sunrise, Boat ride to Sausalito, Lunch, flowers everywhere, Nutritionella, Giants game, Hiking Bear Creek, Mussles, Pt. Reyes
The weekend was wonderful for a lot of reasons; time spent with great friends, amazing food, some indulgences (ice cream, croissants), the great outdoors, hiking, and too many laughs. We feel so lucky to have such wonderful friends in our lives and when you find the good ones don't let them go.
*Tips learned in the last year from traveling: to kick jet lag spend time in the sun so your body's internal clock understands what time of day it is, exercise, shower ( a cool shower to wake up your body or a warm shower to help you fall asleep), staying hydrated, and eating light.
