There’s news today!
Osama Bin Laden has finally been killed. What a monumental day in American history. What does it mean though? Will the war end? Will gas prices stop making me cry? But the most important thing is we must remember the Americans and Canadians who sacrificed their lives on this mission.
This morning called for some Freedom Toast. I upped the healthification of French…er..Freedom Toast & made it correspond to my American friends!
Red, White & Blue Freedom Toast
1/3 cup egg whites
1/4 cup Almond Milk (I use unsweetened Vanilla)
Whisk those ingredients together and dip your bread into the mix. I use a 110 calorie Bagel Thin. If I had a cinnamon raisin bagel thin on hand, it would have increased the deliciousness two-fold, but a whole wheat one tasted ah-mazing as well. Instead of using high-sugar, high-calorie maple syrup (sorry for my un-Canadian-ness), a better idea is to top it with a fruit ‘syrup’ made only from frozen blueberries.
Just microwave them in a small bowl for 45 seconds & you end up with a hot, bubbling, syrupy fruit concoction to pour over the Freedom Toast.
Top it with some Chia seeds & add a side of strawberries, and you have a healthy breakfast of whole grains, seeds & fruit, for under 200 calories.
This is probably my new favourite breakfast.
I think I’m going to head over to Michael’s craft store & get some new decor to add to my bedroom and bathroom today. It’s gloomy outside, so it feels like an arts & crafts kind of day.
