A Lean Morning

Posted Oct 04 2009 12:00am

Since I ate a little more than I needed to yesterday (darn you, Pillsbury Sugar Cookie dough, you irresistible minx), I wanted to eat just a bit lighter today. So I began with a bowl of Go Lean Cereal (Sprinkled with dried raisins and cranberries), skim milk, and 1/2 Grapefruit with a drizzle of Agave Nectar, and Coffee:

Go Lean, You Say? Don't Mind If I Do!

After the usual insanity of a rainy morning getting three sweet kids to school, and stopping by the gorcery store for some fresh, local produce because I’m all out:

Broccolette, Pre-Silced (I'm Lazy) Carrots and Celery, Two Figs, Two Honeycrisp Apples

I came home, had a snack of sliced honeycrisp apples and Blue Diamond Honey Almond Butter (The best!):

….and did a Yoga to the People podcast. I haven’t done a full length class in well over a week and it felt great to push my flexibility to the max. I also noticed that I was breathing more deeply and fully than ever before. The session actually cleared my always aggravated sinuses quite a bit. Twas a good sweat, and a good meditative experience all in one.

I also have to make sure that my apartment is toddler-proof as I’m having three cute kids over for a movie night tonight while the parents host a school reception at their place. Of the three darlins’, one is a 21-month-old. She’s a pretty great toddler, doesn’t put things in her mouth anymore, doesn’t get into things that are definitely off-limits. Still though, I’m a safety freak and all I can think about are the sharp edges on my bed, cleaning products that are at a low (read: reachable) elevation, and my bookshelf toppling over. I must commence with the toddler-proofing so that I can enjoy movie-night with the kids at ease!

For lunch, I enjoyed:

Amy's Black Bean Burrito Smothered in Hot Sauce, Carrot and Celery Sticks w/Two Tablespoons of Hummus

The burrito was delicious! Despite eating it too soon after I popped it out of the microwave (totally singed my tongue), I was able to enjoy the wide variety of flavors it offered. The big selling point for me was the cilantro, it got along incredibly well with all of its other ingredient friends.

I had dessert with lunch today, which included fresh figs:

figgy yum yum

Hard To Take a Bad Photo of Figs, They're The Sexy Supermodels of Fruit!

It’s raining like whoa today, but if it lightens up, I’m going to try to squeeze in a decent walk this afternoon.

What’s your favorite way to eat a fig?

Until my next chew!
