Good evening friends! How are you doing since we ‘fell back’ last night? Do you feel rested from your extra hour of sleep?
I don’t. I felt exhausted today! At least we get to see some sun when we get out of bed now!
Today was a pretty interesting day around here. Lee didn’t have to go into work until tonight, so I was anticipating a relaxing Sunday spent watching football and lazing around on the couch. That was plan after we went out to grab a quick lunch. We went to Ruby Tuesday (if you read this blog regularly, you know we go there a lot)! I took no pictures, but this is what we had:
Lee: Steak, white cheddar mashed potatoes, mac n’ cheese, and buffalo shrimp for an app.
Me: Avocado turkey burger (hold the red onion), brown rice pilaf, roasted zucchini, and a salad.
Before our food came, an older woman that was a couple tables away from us came over and handed us a piece of paper and said, “Here you go. This is a coupon for a buy one get one dinner. My husband and I have two coupons and they expire today, so I would like for you to use it so it doesn’t go to waste.”
Okay, now I know that I am dramatic and waaay too emotional, but my heart instantly melted and I wanted to get up and give the woman a hug. I know it was just a coupon and not a big deal, but I feel like there are so many ‘not nice’ people out there so I appreciate good deeds and good intentions so much! We finished up our meal and headed out on our way.
We had plans to stop at Lowe’s for a new kitchen faucet, but decided against it and, instead, drove by a local dealership that has a car we might be interested in to check it out. We scoped out the window sticker and the inside and started home. I was feeling carsick (sometimes Lee drives like a maniac…I have to remind him my car is not a police cruiser) so we pulled over so I could drive. Soon after I started out, we came around a corner and I had to slam on my brakes because there were two dogs trotting down the center of the road. The road is a pretty busy road and cars in the other lane were stopped. We did what anyone with a heart would do…
…we pulled over and put them in our car. One had a collar and one did not, but there were no tags or name/number.
We brought them home to our house and put them in a crate in our garage…together…they seem to be buddies…and we rode back out to the area we found them and stopped at a few houses but no one knew who they belonged to. We called our local human society and they were not able to take them this afternoon but said they could take them tomorrow once they moved dogs around and opened some space for them. So, our plan was to take them there tomorrow morning…but…
Right now, they are living in two huge crates in our garage. They have been fed and watered and are comfy cozy on blankets. We are calling them Fox and Springer for right now because one looks like a fox and the other is some type of spaniel so we picked a springer! I think we are going to keep them for a couple of days and put some posters up in our area with the hopes of finding their original owners or at least finding homes for them ourselves with people that we know will take care of them. They are both super friendly and very personable!
I might be crazy for doing it and be stressed out the next couple of days, but I wouldn’t change the decision we made to stop and pick them up. I would like to think someone would do the same for my dog if he was ever in the same situation. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
I am a firm believer that one good deed always deserves another…and it was a good deed kind of day around here.
Have you had anyone do something extra nice or surprising for you lately?
