Basic Barley Water
Method: If you can get the Hulled Barley you can get maximum nutrition from this grain. I had pearl Barley with me and I crushed the grains in my blender for a few minutes.
Boil..boil my pearly Barley!
Pressure cooker is the best for quick cooking and boiling the Barley, it takes just 5 minutes on high flame for the grains to cook. Ye ou can boil the Barley in a broad vessel for 25-30 minutes on medium flame. Remove the vessel from heat and let it cool a little.
3 flavors infusing into the Barley water..Filter the boiled Barley and take the strained liquid in another vessel. Add desired flavors and add ons for a perfect Barley drink. This is the basic recipe for making a plain Barley water, you can drink it as it is if you don’t mind adding any flavors to it.

Cumin Flavored Barley Water
Method: Fill two glasses with the basic Barley water. Add salt, cumin powder and stir. Serve chilled with ice cubes. You can add a dash of lemon juice and ginger for extra flavors. But believe me it tastes good without these add ons
Lemony Barley water
Method: Take two cups of slightly warm Barley water and add all of the above ingredients into it. Cover it and keep aside for 15-20 minutes. Filter the water into serving glasses and serve chilled with crushed ice.
