“Tum, Ta, Tum, Tum, Tums!”

Remember this commercial ? Well I’ve certainly had the jingle in my head all day, because due to the pit in my stomach that has been present since yesterday, I’ve been popping tums like a calcium junkie. Thank you bizarre stomach virus.

It’s nothing too severe, but my appetite is on again/off again and I’ve been in a constant state of mild-to-moderate discomfort all day.

Anyway, for breakfast I enjoyed some oats:

For Today’s Oats:

1/2 Cup Quaker Old Fashioned Oats

3/4 Cup Water

1/4 Cup Soy Milk

1 Small Glob of Pumpkin Butter

1 Small Glob of Peanut Butter

Sprinkle of Raisins

1 Sliced Banana

2 Tbs. of Ground Flax Seed

While on my way back from work, I walked a slow two miles.

During my closet cleaning frenzy (so glad I downsized my wardrobe) and desk clearing clutter cleanse, I sipped this ginger ale:

For lunch, I just had something extremely light and simple:

Apple Pear, 1 Ounce Cheddar Cheese Cubes, 4 Mini Whole Wheat Pita Pockets, Hummus

I absolutely love these mini whole wheat pita breads, they’re so cute and delicious:

Plus the nutritional content is pretty decent:

For an afternoon snack, I had a Gnu bar:

I’m rather picky about the taste of snack bars, and I really didn’t like this. It had a terrible, mushy texture and a very faint peanut butter flavor. I can appreciate the fiber content and the lack of High Fructose Corn Syrup, but there are other natural fiber bars that taste exponentially better (whaddup, Luna and Kashi?) I’ve tried Gnu Bars before and I gotta say, from now on, I’ll be saying “no” to “Gnu.”

I also had a cup of yerbe mate tea with my afternoon snack.

While soaking the rice for tonight’s dinner, I nibbled on some raw almonds:

Dinner was a simple health bowl, involving leftover chicken breast, black beans, brown rice, and broccoli:

I like to prepare brown rice by doing the following:

Soaking a cup (dry) of rice in a bowl of water for an hour, then drain and rinse said bowl of rice, add it to a saucepan with two cups of fat free organic chicken broth. Bring the rice and broth to a boil, stir, turn down heat and let simmer for 35-45 minutes (until broth is absorbed). Turn off heat, let sit for 10 minutes, fluff with fork.

For dessrt, I had a serving of Edy’s Slow Churned Peppermint Ice Cream

And now, it’s time to really catch up on sleep. I’m shooting for 8 hours tonight, wish me luck!
