A long run followed by a leisurely brunch with good friends = my favorite way to spend a Saturday morning.
This morning, the girls and I did our second half marathon long training run – 7 miles! It was made even more awesome by the fact that my college BFF Turner is here visiting!
She joined me and my grad school friends for our long run this morning – it worked out perfectly that she’s a runner, too
It was super cold but we had an awesome run – I felt great and it was fun to run through Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and parts of UNC’s campus to show Turner the sights!
Splits:
Mile 1: 8:59
Mile 2: 9:02
Mile 3: 8:34
Mile 4: 8:37
Mile 5: 8:57
Mile 6: 9:17(massive long gradual hill)
Mile 7: 8:32(feeling great & ended with a sprint!)
Yay! Our overall pace was 8:53, for a total time of 1:02. We beat out last week’s 6 mile pace by 2 seconds (we ran almost the exact same course today) – sweet!
And then – it was time for brunch! Yessssssssss. As you know, we decided last week that post-long run brunches will be mandatory for the duration of our training We’re going to try a new place each week! Today’s adventure: Elmo’s Diner !
I had the farmer’s omelette, which came with cheddar cheese, broccoli, tomato, and mushroom. It was just okay – the veggies were definitely a frozen mix, and the egg part was a little tough.
But the yummy biscuit and cinnamon apples (in the back) made up for the sub par omelette
I hear their pancakes are also awesome – perhaps next time I’ll try those instead!
Turner and I are off to explore around town and then going out for dinner and drinks with some of the girls tonight. Have a great Saturday!
