Though the weather is still mild, it will soon be cold and that means that many thousands of people in this city will be freezing, some to their deaths.

This year we are collecting donations of winter coats, hats, gloves, sweaters and scarves to be donated to homeless shelters and directly to homeless men and women throughout the city.

If you would like to donate any items, please contact me by phone or email:

 Ray Salomone (212) 946-2090

I will pick up the items from you and they will be donated within 72 hours.

 (Manhattan pick-ups only, please)

Last year I raised and donated over 1,200 coats, hats, gloves and scarves. A very generous donor also bought 500 pairs of new socks which were also donated.

My total for the previous four years:

3,314 hats, gloves, sweaters, scarves and coats. My ambitious goal for this year is to raise and donate 2,500 items.

We will be getting media exposure though several outlets but we most certainly can use more. Please forward this to any members of the media you may know.

Q: What makes my clothing drive different from the more well-known organizations?

A: I DO NOT SELL the donations to textile firms to raise money to cover operations. And I go directly into the parks, church steps and other locations to personally deliver the clothing items to the very grateful recipients.

Now is not the time to judge. Being homeless can happen to anyone. I should know; twenty years ago I was homeless for several months.
