Good morning and TGIF! I am ready for the weekend! I have a guest post for you today. Some tips to stay motivated during your workouts!
How many times have you started a fitness program with the intention of losing that extra weight, then after a week or two, just gave up on it because you weren’t motivated enough? Weight doesn’t come off fast and that could make a person give up on the fitness program. There’s no easy way out to having the best body EVER! So, if you can find ways to stay motivated during workouts, you’ll get used to working out all the time and will be more apt to wearing those cute UggAustralia boots or some sexy little bikini from Victoria Secret or even that designer dress from the Marc Jacobs collection.
Multitasking, such as watching television while riding your recumbent bike, helps to keep your mind off your workout program. Before you know it, you will have biked several miles while you enjoyed your favorite television show.
Instead of thinking like a couch potato, think like an athlete. Create a time that you can work out without being disturbed. Treat your workout like a job . You can also set goals to make your workout more interesting. If you have something to work for, you’re more apt to stay motivated during your workout. Keep a logbook of food you eat, times you exercise and how much weight you lose. Keeping a logbook reminds you to exercise on schedule and shows you how much weight you’ve lost.
Find a partner to go through the motions with you. Change the workout- don’t do the same exercises in the same order every day. You can do two or three exercises one day, then do one or two different exercises the next day or the next time you workout. If you like to watch a certain show, use the recumbent bike during the time your favorite show is on the television.
According to Gregory Florez, a spokesperson for ACE and FitAdvisor.com , exercise is the best thing you can do to alleviate stress. If you’re feeling stressed out, tell yourself that a good workout will make you feel better. Pretty soon, all the motivation you’ll need to continue working out is the knowledge that the workout gets rid of the stress of the day.
If you are under so much stress that you’re tired and don’t feel like standing up, never mind working out, work out anyway, but just tell yourself you’ll do a shorter workout. As you feel the stress alleviate, you’ll be motivated to workout longer than you had originally planned.
If you are not feeling well, dial down the workout a bit, but only if you have a mild cold. If you’re sore or seriously ill, don’t worry about working out- take a break. Also, if you are feeling fine, but are burning out on working out, take a day off and tell yourself it’s your “treat” for all the hard work you’ve already done. You’ll feel much more motivated to continue working out the next day.
You can also reward yourself in other ways. After you’ve met your goal, treat yourself to a new pair of workout shoes. Get that manicure you have been wanting. Treating yourself occasionally also keeps you motivated to continue working out to meet your extended goals.
