5 Tips for Your Fit-Cation

Posted May 30 2012 12:45pm
There is that saying, "If you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail."

That is NOT in my game plan, so I adhere to the following when traveling
  1. Pack snacks & supplements
  2. Research your hotel fitness center
  3. Schedule your workouts/runs in advance
  4. Scope out your surroundings for outdoor activities
  5. Decide ahead of time when to splurge

My essential supplements  and snacks were packed first, followed shortly by workout clothes. Then, normal clothes. Truth: I could live in dri-fit and be content.

GNC Total Lean protein & GenetixHD line

Traveling can mess with your routine.  But, a new environment should not deter you from your fitness goals.

Find out what the hotel offers for gym space. Ours had excellent treadmills and dumb bells up to 50 lbs as well as stability and medicine balls.

Scour the local area for safe running routes or take further advantage of your surroundings by biking, hiking or swimming.

Coach and I started every day with a morning workout--less excuses that time of day. This is something that we LOVE to do and can spend time together doing. Win-win.

Gym Buddy Workout
5 rounds. Alternate exercises with partner.
Person #1:  Run 600m (.38 miles)

Person #2:  2x each: 10 clean & press  (I used 20 lbs dumb bells) & 20 med ball scissor abs

Each portion takes a little over 3 minutes. So, you are looking at a 30-35 minute workout.

I was a sweaty beast with this one. Swass , swoob, everything.

I get lots of questions with regards to the GNC products I use, specifically the GenetixHD line .

I have noticed an increase in my workout intensity as well as improved muscle definition (I'll talk more about my body composition this week).

The GenetixHD line fully compliments my HIIT workouts and running goals. You can read more about my review HERE .

His & Hers

Pre-workout:  Meta-Ignite
Post-workout: Egg white omelet with veggies (protein/carb combo within 30 minutes of working out aids in muscle repair and recovery).

We got lucky with the Seattle weather, so I took advantage and walked around the UW campus before the baseball games.

I still love seeing my husband in uniform. There's something about baseball pants (and not the uber baggy ones) right, ladies?

Game snack. This breakfast bar was perfect--no melting on a warm day. Do you see the protein/fiber info?! Awesome.

Coach and I had time to enjoy the surroundings after games, too.

We met up with a bunch of his high school buddies at Rock Bottom Brewery in downtown Bellevue. Oh, the stories I heard...

My food choices are far from perfect, and I like to splurge on occasion, but I aim to balance that with healthy choices a majority of the time.

Believe me, I have a mouthful of sweet teeth! Don't give me a bag of gummy candy and expect anything leftover.

What is your MUST-HAVE snack to pack?
