Hatha Yoga Hatha yoga involves combining physical yoga postures and pranayama breathing to control and calm the mind.  The word hatha can be divided into two parts. HA means the sun or positive energy, and THA means the moon or negative energy. Hatha yoga means the union of the positive and negative energy emanating from the human body. If you synchronize your breath to your postures and give 150% of your attention to your body then you will gain the most benefits.

Regular hatha yoga practice enhances your mental clarity and calmness, increases your bodily awareness, relieves chronic stress patterns, helps you to relax your mind, centers your attention and sharpens your concentration. It removes lethargy and mental sluggishness while helping you to overcome insomnia and depression. With practice, you will develop mental poise and experience inner balance.

Many hatha yoga practices include visualization techniques and suggest that you adopt a positive attitude towards life. While relaxing your body and calming your mind, yoga helps you to be more open to your experiences.
