#4 – iCE iCE bABY

Posted Jan 27 2011 8:25am

IT’S THURSDAY! I’m on to #4 on my list of things I’ve learned from my past injuries .

  1. STRETCHING!
  2. REALLY RESTING ON MY REST DAYS [stop overtraining]
  3. EASING OFF WHEN I FEEL SOMETHING HURTING
  4. ICING WHEN I THINK I NEED IT (doesn’t happen as much as it should)
  5. GETTING THE BEST NIGHTLY FOOT/LEG RUBS FROM MY MAN [thank you SOOO much!!]

In all honestly, I’m not the best role model when it comes to icing. It DEFINITELY doesn’t happen as much as it should. But I know it helps!

Runner’s World has a great article on ICING . Here are the highlights:

  • Ice immediately after a run
  • 20 minutes is about right
  • Ice lots (5 times a day)

The whole point of applying ice to an injury is to help reduce the swelling & inflammation of the injury. Not only that, but with me...it just makes it feel better (maybe because it’s too numb to feel anything)!

What are your tips & tricks when it comes to icing? I need some motivation & help with this one!

**Tomorrow is the last day to enter my GIVEAWAY **
