Home Baby 29 week bump update & our baby’s name

14 comments Aug 07/12 Baby, LIonel Richie, Pregnancy

I seriously cannot believe that I’m already 29 weeks along.  On the other hand, it feels like I’ve been pregnant forever!

Truth be told, I love being pregnant and wouldn’t mind being pregnant forever, but I really do want to meet this little guy.

Here’s what the bump looks like at week 29.

How I’m Feeling:  I feel amazing.  I’ve said it so many times, but I feel healthier now than I did before I became pregnant.  Of course, I’m not like Brooklyn Decker’s character in What to Expect When You’re Expecting by any means.   I still get the normal annoyances like back pain from time to time, digestive issues, heartburn, and a constant case of the sniffles.  But overall, pregnancy really agrees with me.

Noticeable Changes Recently:  The baby is kicking and moving constantly!  At first, I thought that it was the result of too much sugar, but then I read that it is perfectly normal (and good) for the baby to be more active around this time.  He’s developing some fat and that’s got him squirming a bit more!

Current Cravings:  Honey mustard, Subway, butternut squash soup, and apples (and the occasional doughnut)

Food Aversions:  Broccoli.  I used to love broccoli, but now I despise broccoli and everything about it.  I’m not sure that I’ll ever be able to love it again.

Accomplishments This Week:  This week, I wrote our birth plan (yes, I’ll take the drugs) and made a list of people who need to be contacted via text or email once the baby arrives.  I also bought diapers yesterday- the first of many times that I’ll be shopping the diaper aisle!

Things I Miss:  Sleep!  I’ve had a difficult time sleeping lately due to constant kicks from the baby and my heartburn.  During the night, I also tend to think about all that I still have to do to get ready for the baby.  Hopefully, my ability to sleep soundly will return soon.  You know, before the baby is born and it goes away forever.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned anything about the baby’s name.

Well, Michael and I agreed from the beginning that we’d keep it a well-guarded secret until he’s born, so you’ll just have to wait for the big reveal!

However, I will tell you that we are not naming him Lionel.  It wasn’t for lack of trying on my part though.  Trust me, I pushed for it, but Michael just never went for it.   Go figure.

We’re not planning to name him Kal-El, Pilot Inspektor, or Diva Thin Muffin either.

Believe it or not, those are all real celebrity baby names.

Are you a fan of unusual names?  What is the most unique name you’ve heard of someone naming their child?  When it came to picking out a name, we just seemed to gravitate toward more traditional names.   Maybe we’re just boring!

I’ll talk to you later!

  1. Oh how exciting that you are 3/4 through your pregnancy! I loved being pregnant too! It is so funny how your taste for foods change during pregnancy. I like traditional names and I think that some of the celebrities are not making it any easier for their kids. Hope you are getting some sleep :)

    • Thanks, Raquel! :) I feel a nap coming on soon for sure. I’m glad that you loved being pregnant too. It is such a special time…even with some of the unpleasant side effects.

  2. You still look so great! Your cravings me laugh — so random. I’m glad you’re not going with Lionel, ha! I prefer something in between traditional and different. But I think you’re making the right choice by sticking with something traditional. The baby won’t grow up and dislike his/her name!

  3. Weirdly, broccoli is one of the more appealing veggies to me! I think green peppers are the one veg I can’t stomach the thought of at all right now.

    • I’ve heard of lots of people hating broccoli, but I can definitely see the green pepper thing too. Come to think of it, I haven’t eaten them throughout my entire pregnancy so far!

  4. You look so great!!!

Did I tell you how much I now loath asparagus? It was always one of my absolute FAVORITE greens… and I haven’t been able to stomach since seeing that second pink line. Hoping that I’ll be able to enjoy it again in the future!

    • I didn’t know that you and asparagus were on such awful terms! LOL. I haven’t been able to eat it either though. It just looks nasty to me right now!

  5. I am not so much a fan of the unusual names. I heard the most unusual name was when I was in nursing school doing a labor and delivery rotation. It was Abcde. Pronounced Ab-city.

  6. I just had my baby (6weeks ago today) and let me tell you, some of the frozen convenience foods have been a lifesaver. We really like the frozen mushroom risotto at TJs – just add a little frozen cooked shrimp for a main dish. Also, the whole wheat couscous is done in 5 minutes in the micro and can add their “just chicken” nuts and dried cranberries for a warm couscous salad. I also made some homemade veggie burgers, twice baked potatoes etc and froze them in my last few weeks.

Good luck – such an exciting time!

    • Congratulations on the birth of your baby! :) Thanks so much for the dinner idea. I’m sure it will come in handy! It is also good to know that all of my food hoarding will not be a waste. :)

  7. You stinker. I thought I was going to get to know the baby’s name. I really think at least his middle name should be Lionel.

    You look adorable, as always.

    • Haha. I couldn’t even convince him to make Lionel the middle name. Heck, I couldn’t even convince him to name the dog Lionel. Maybe I’ll get a pet fish or something and name him Lionel. :)
