I think I mentioned this before, but I once read that you should take a day per mile to recover from a race. Why I think that is a bit much, I did realize that my first post-marathon race will be the Turkey Trot, exactly 26 days after the marathon! Funny how it is as DMB would say.
In any case, I am not particularly optimistic about this race since my legs have been fine with running but more than a little resistant to running with any speed what so ever. I am hoping to nudge them in that direction on TDAY and then really go for it on December 12th which is the Snowflake 5K in Prospect Park.
Oh, please help me make a playlist for the race! If you could just mention one song in the comments that is essential to your running playlist, I would greatly appreciate it! I’ll put a list together for everyone and post it
Anyways, I always look forward to the Turkey Trot. I get to run it with Greg. It has a whole lotta country flavor, even though Schenectady is in no way country. And my fam is there cheering me on! Actually this year two exciting things will shake up the Cardiac Classic—timing chips and a Kenyan. Yup before they had a super ghetto timing system where they basically wrote down your time and stuck it on a string as you passed the start/finish line. One of my classmates also mention that a great Kenyan runner will be running it this year. Craziness.
So since, I once again brought up the M word, I thought I would share the last vestiges of that glorious day: subway sinage. There was no lack of marathon sinage and it still decks the halls of the Bryant Park subway terminal. Here’s a look, inspiring? You can decide.
I am not sure when they will take them down, but I certainly don’t mind them!
Did ya’ll know that Alanis Morrisette ran NYC this year? If not, I thought you outta know
xoxo
PS don’t forget to let me know your fav running/racing song!
