26+ Hours Traveling, Bloated Feet & I’m in AUSTRALIA!

Posted Feb 06 2012 10:54am

Well guys! I made it. I am FINALLY in Australia! This trip started out like a crazy mess! First I thought I had lost my passport and didn’t think I’d make this trip. Turns out someone decided to place my passport in a “safer place” so that I wouldn’t lose it. Yea, no point if that person doesn’t remember where they put it!!!

Then once I was at SFO, our plane to New Zealand didn’t leave til 3 hours AFTER the scheduled departure time. Once in the air though, I fell asleep and when  woke up, there were only 3 hrs left to Auckland! So cool since the first leg is a 13 hr flight!

When we got off I noticed that my feet could no longer fit in my shoes. I was like whhhaaa? Pregnant feet? They looked bloated and were spilling over my shoes. It felt really weird but I thought I was seeing things. But then Jackelyn said that her tennis shoes felt tighter and she had “cankles”. Ha, I told her it’d go way since we’d be on the ground for a couple hours til our next flight.

I am sad that we didn’t get to breathe the air in NZ but  I did see it from the sky. Looked so beautiful. Wish we were there for more than just a layover. Since our orig. flight was delayed everything went downhill from there. Detour flights, lost baggage etc etc. But we kept a smile, was nice to everyone who helped us, because we knew that in the end it would all be ok.

When we reached our detour flight to Sydney, we ran into a POP Pilates fan!

This is Cynthia! She saw me and was like “Are you the Pilates Girl?!?!?!?!” in her cute Australian accent. I love love love meeting posters because you guys always get to see me, but I never get to see you.

Anyway, when we did our third flight from Sydney to Cairns…I noticed that my feet were about to explode. You have no idea how intrigued I was by the swelling phenomenon. I’ve never seen or heard anything it before. I kept pushing at my feet and they kept bouncing back. SO WEIRD! It’s called Edema.

It’s basically a symptom that occurs when excess fluid builds up in the feet due to lack of muscle usage in the feet and legs. I just looked it up now. Wish I knew beforehand!!!

So anyway, right when my sister and I landed in Cairns, we ran 4 miles along the beach. To destress and detox. Then we walked the city. Super cute. I will be going to Lorna Jane tomorrow to check out what clothes I will be wearing in the first POP Pilates DVD! Then we have to go to the rainforest! We will be going Great Barrier Reef later this week! More pics for sure.

K my eyes are shutting as I am typing this…my time zone clock is so confused. But I should go to bed now. It’s 1:42 am here.

Before I leave though, check out a few things!!

1. MizzFit,my good friend and fitness fashion extraordinaire did an interview on me, my bags, and pilates!!! Check it here.

2. If you’re interested, here’s a fun lil video I did for some fitness magazines in hopes of getting a gig as a writer for them.  Not really sure how they will take it, but whatever! It was fun to make this. Enjoy! A lil sneak peek into the day in the life of…me!

PS: Will be uploading challenge video later today!!!!! Watch for it!!!!
