21 Day Sugar Challenge and Pumpkin Bread

Posted Dec 03 2012 10:10pm

Happy Holidays!! Can you believe it is December already?!? I can’t!!

Well, we have our tree all set up and our house decorated. There’s nothing better than waking up the smell of a forest in your living room. Jim Gaffigan has a great sketch on holiday traditions!! You can watch it above :0) He cracks me up… pocket!

Through the Facebook page for HFTY, I started a 21 Sugar Challenge! How great is that? No sugar during the month of December! This challenge is not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure! The reason we’re doing this is because the holiday season brings a lot of gluttony and “treats” and parties. It’s so easy to get off track and have one too many cute Christmas cookies.

So, we are joining together to encourage one another to stay healthy and happy this month and to help break the sugar addiction. Did you know that you actually break an addiction in 3 weeks? It totally works!! For some it’s easier than others, so I created different levels of commitment for this challenge. You start by picking which level you want to stick to for the next three week:

Level One- No sugar (artificial or “real”)

Level Two- No sugar + no fruit

Level Three- No sugar + no fruit+ no starches from potatoes or squash

Level three is the hardest and is meant only for those with sever sugar addictions or people who want to lean out a bit.

So, the challenge is on! To join in on the fun, head over to the

So, in the spirit of no sugar, I present to you a savory little pumpkin loaf that is delicious!! And, goes great with the spiced apple butter!
