11 Questions

Posted Feb 08 2012 9:30am

Last week I was tagged to give some fun facts about myself thanks to a blend(blog friend). Traci of   yellowWISHBONE  tagged me to take part in the 11 questions game that is making its way around the blogging world and I am so honored. I love reading her blog so I was really interested in her questions she answered and stumped at some of the ones she asked me.

The rules:

  1. You must post these rules
  2. Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog
  3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer

11 Things about me!

1. I wear black everyday. It’s not because it’s my favorite color, it’s my uniform. I wear black at work and school and I haven’t worn an actual color in probably over 2 months. At least I can accessorize!

Boring black, everyday!

2. If you asked me what my favorite soup is I would have to say some kind of chowder, but I always make or buy tomato . Weird I know.

3. I never do my makeup the same way every day. I always stay pretty neutral with my color palate, but add a touch of dark purple liner, dark green shadow etc to mix it up. Right now my favorite is Cover Girl Liquiline in Violet. It’s a great alternative to black liner.

4. When I was 16 I drove a white Subaru station wagon. Twelve years later I still drive a white Subaru station wagon, but let’s call it an extended sedan please!

5. In college I smoked a pack of cigarettes every two days, drank 3 nights a week, and ate fast food every other day.

Not Cute

I quit smoking 5 years ago and rarely drink now and fast food is never an option.

6. I’ve gone on Nymbler just for fun(not preggers or even trying, just for fun) and the two names that keep coming up are Ella and Harper. I’ve discussed this with Travis and he says we can’t re-use them for our children. Clearly it’s a sign, though right?

7. I have always been loyal to Grey’s Anatomy. Everyone else has fallen off and/or come back on, but I’ve watch every episode since it started.

8. I can’t watch a movie or show where an animal may be hurt or die or I will lose it. My parents would never allow me to watch Emergency Vets on Animal Planet because I would get so upset. I will never watch Old Yeller, EVER!

9. If we didn’t live in a loft I would petition to have more animals. I’m secretly(ok maybe not secretly) a crazy cat lady!

"Someone please save me"-Ella

10. I had jury duty yesterday and was probably the only person that didn’t mind being there. I got to read my book with no interruptions;) I’m still not finished but am on a roll. Since I didn’t get picked it will be another month before I get a chance to read more.

Love this series!

11. I’m very weird about how I like my coffee made. I prefer it to be made in the following order: Stevia, almond milk, than coffee. It’s more efficient because the coffee stirs everything together when it’s poured in the mug. No need for a spoon to be dirtied up. It’s a weird thing I know, but I do it all everyday.

Questions from Traci:

1. What is your go-to dish for a dinner party?

This is a tough one because I love all dishes, but I have to go with dip(of some kind). I love appetizers, but sometimes making them can be tricky so I always go with a safe dip and go crazy with the dipping choices. Veggie assortments, pita chips, pretzels, crackers, all are great!

2. What is the best part of having a dog?

Hands down the unconditional love.

3. Worst part?

All that hair. It’s freaking everywhere. I vacuum at least twice a week and still see tumble weeds of fur. It’s ridiculous.

4. What is your favorite way to make someone feel special?

Just calling or e-mailing to say I was thinking of them. I think of people all the time so I try to call them when that happens just to say hi. A lot of the time I’ll get their v-mail, but as long as they know I’m thinking of them. It’s always nice to know you matter to someone.

5. What is your best piece of relationship advice?

There are so many things I could say but I’ll keep it short and give my top 2.

  1. Don’t let things fester. If you have an issue go ahead and get it out into the open. It will only get worse and cause problems later. I call it the “gunny sack”. Have a discussion of your expectations of each other and find a good compromise.
  2. Which brings me to my second tip of advice. COMPROMISE! Relationships are about give and take, and if you’re always taking or always giving there will be major resentments later. You can’t always have things your way or never admit you were in the wrong. There has to be a happy medium and you will be much happier and stronger as a couple.

6. How do you motivate yourself to active if you just aren’t feeling it?

I think motivation sometimes comes once you’ve started the workout. It’s hard to get up and go but once you’ve started being active, in which ever way you choose, you’ll start feeling motivated to keep at it once you realize how great you feel afterwards.

7. What is the first book you would ever recommend to a friend?

Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristof & Sheryl Wudunn is amazing.

Must read!!!

I would recommend it to every woman and man I know. It’s about sexual exploitation around the world and the stories of women and young girls that have made it their life mission to bring awareness to the subject. It’s amazing and will inspire you to do something.

8. Which season do you prefer and why?

I have always loved the Fall. I love the changing colors of the leaves, the warm days and cool nights, etc, it’s all great. Plus my birthday and wedding anniversary is in Fall so it’s double great!

9. What goals have you set for the next 5 years?

I would like to be settled in my esthetics career, but other than that I try to make my goals more in the 1-2 year range.  It stresses me out to have plans that far in advance. My main goal is to complete a couple more ½ marathons and maybe a full one.

10. What is one material item you could not live without?

I could be gushy and say my wedding rings, but since that’s a given I’m going to say my laptop. I have everything on it from my blog files, ideas, personal budgets, calendar, music, pics, etc. so if I couldn’t have anything else I would need this.

11. What is the most embarrassing thing to happen to you recently?

This is a hard one because I don’t really embarrass easily. I don’t like being called out on my mistakes in front of people, but I get more mad than embarrassed when that happens.

I am tagging YOU for my 11 questions(all or some doesn’t matter):

  1. What is your favorite reality show(don’t say you don’t watch reality TV, everyone does. Swamp People counts)
  2. How many times do you honestly cook a week?
  3. What’s the best movie you’ve seen recently?
  4. Over or Under toilet paper on the roll?
  5. Where would you love to visit? Any where in the world.
  6. Online or store shopper?
  7. Best compliment you given?
  8. Best compliment you’ve received?
  9. Sweet or salty?
  10. Are you a morning or night person?
  11. What is your favorite quote?
