#10. I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike.

I’ve replaced running with bicyle-ing… bicycling? Biking…. I’ve replaced it with biking.

Much easier on the knees, tough on the tooshie. ;)

I used to commute to work via bike, around 8 miles round trip downtown. Got a new job, and rode my bike 4 miles round trip. Then a new job.. and had to commute 4 hours… PER DAY, via public transit. Ouch.

Since I got my bike up and running this season, you can’t pay me enough to stop riding! Everywhere I go, I’m on my bike. I’ve decided to try to ride my bike to work… a daunting 17 miles round trip. I did it once, and didn’t think it was so bad!

So this weekend, I decided to do it 3 days in a row. Why? Because I’m looney tunes and I always feel ‘go big or go back to bed’.

I did 43 miles in 3 days! I’m not sore one bit! My knees are a little tender, but nothing compared to the pain of running! It only takes me around 50 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic to get to work… cutting my commute in HALF!

I’m a ton more energized AND I don’t even stop to get coffee, because well, I can’t really ride very well one handed and balance an ice coffee.  More exercise AND cutting out calories! Bonus.

Cept… I’m SUPER hungry now. I guess biking 2 hours a day will do that to you, but I’m still food journal’n and “counting calories”. And by “counting calories” I mean counting how many brownies I put in my belly. I’m trying to stick to 1600-1800 calories per day (to lose 1lb a week with my exercise). Its not really hard, except I sometimes eat much less by accident. Too few calories can be dangerous especially when exercising strenously, but I’m sure I’ve got plenty of reserve to use up (: On weeks when I eat 1200-1400 a day, and workout 5x a week… i NEVER lose a single pound. So I’ve made an appointment with a nutrionist to see whats up! I’ll report back!

Hey guess what…. new goal.

I’ve always wanted to participate in the Hub on Wheels charity race & ride! I think this year might be it! They have 10, 30 or 50 mile loops. I’m shoot’n for 30 miles!! All the donations go towards Boston based charities.

I’ll give some more info in a later post!

This month… I would like to post… EVERY DAY. I will try… but as Jillian says “Trying means you’re planning to fail”

Well.. I will put forth most effort to accomplish said goal (;  Life catches up sometimes, and as much as I want to write, sometimes, I wanna ride.
