Tomorrow is the day! I went with my boys to pick up my race packet this afternoon and I’m super excited now. I wish I would have heard of this race a few years ago, I love local races that benefit the community. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow, but I may make it an annual thing (along with Huffing for Stuffing, both local).
I tried to get little G man to be my photographer again, this is what I got:
I love their shirts – long sleeve technical tee, fits great and their logo is pretty fun. They also gave every runner a glass…I don’t drink beer/alcohol, but this will work great for water :)
I have ALMOST everything ready to go. Let’s just say I won’t be hard to miss! I just need to find my sunglasses, which are lost because little G man LOVES wearing them.
I don’t run a whole lot of races. I think total in my life I have ran less than a dozen. My goal is to beat my previous (only other) 1/2 marathon time, which was 1:50:11. That was the very first 1/2 I raced and I didn’t really train for it. I haven’t really trained for this, but it is part of my marathon training. It would be awesome to beat my previous time. We’ll see.
I’ve been eating a bunch of carbs today. I’m no expert, but I’m just trying to do a little carb loading. My snacks have been pretzels, popcorn, goldfish and of course I couldn’t resist the mini candy bars (ugh).
By the way, I bought a HUGE box of microwave popcorn at Costco and it is the 98% fat free, which basically has no flavor. I don’t want to eat a lot of high fat foods pre race, but it is so bland. So, I added some cinnamon and sugar. Right after it came out of the microwave I put it in a bowl while adding cinnamon and sugar so it stuck a little to the hot popcorn. It’s nothin’ compared to kettle corn, but not bad for an improvise.
Wish me luck tomorrow! I’m pretty excited that I get to meet Christy , and watch her kick my butt!
Oh, and I was going to get a St. Patrick’s Day 5K virtual race going…didn’t happen (obviously). I even made a icon for it -
I just ran out of time and couldn’t get it all together. But, if you are so inclined, I challenge you to run, walk, whatever a 5K this weekend. Let me know if you do!! I’m running a 13.1 miles, you can totally run 3.1!!
