Good Morning!
It has been a great day so far. The weather is amazing and I have already been to a hot sweaty yoga class at Bodhi Yoga. My body needed a day off from running and I feel great right now.
I have a quick recap from last night.... I have had a hard time getting around to blogging at night due to kids school projects and such but I had leftover Black Pepper and Molasses Pulled Chicken Sandwich with Broccoli Slaw that was wonderful. I admit I needed a little bit of real food because my hubby and I have a mini pig-out on the Frosted Pumpkin Cake yesterday afternoon. That stuff is freaking amazing and I try not to indulge in any sweets until after dinner but Steve pulled the cake out and said he was "going in for some". It was hard to resist and I had a rather LARGE slice with lots of frosting. Oh my gosh that cake is freaking good!
So that was my confession for the day. I have since started the day off nice and healthy with my glass of warm lemon water, 5 Amazing Grass Green Superfood Capsules and a fabulous bowl of Banana Raspberry Chia Oats.
Banana Raspberry Almond Chia Oats
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup Silk Heart Health Vanilla Soymilk
1/2 cup water
1/2 banana, sliced
1 tbsp chia seeds
Combine above ingredients and cook over medium heat for 4-5 minutes. Spend the last minute whipping the banana into the oats. Remove from heat and top with:
1/2 banana, sliced
fresh raspberries
1 tbsp sliced almonds
Enjoy!
After I get done with this bag of Chia Seeds I am going to spring for a bag of
Salba.
Omega 3s, Fiber, Antioxidants, & Much More...
Salba is the richest whole food source of Omega 3 fatty acids and fiber found in nature. Gram for gram, Salba provides eight times more Omega 3s than salmon, four times more fiber than flax, six times more calcium than whole milk, 30 percent more antioxidants than blueberries, and much
more. Salba is all-natural, has no trans-fats, very few carbohydrates, and is certified Non-GMO, Vegan, Kosher, and Gluten-Free for those who suffer from celiac disease.
Sounds good doesn't it. I love chia seeds and it sounds like these are even better.
When I got home from yoga I was literally in a state of bliss. That is the beauty of yoga it pretty much sets me up for having a wonderful day. I am also teaching yoga class this Saturday and I always like to go to a public class to pick up new ideas and tips about explaining complicated poses and just enjoy the yoga community as well. There is a bunch of us that go to the same classes and are getting to know each other better as well.
Lunch was my new fall favorite- Apple Cheddar Melt on a Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel English Muffin. This literally tastes like apple pie to me for some reason and I love the sharp cheddar cheese. Yum!
Apple Cheddar Melt on Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel English Muffin
1 Food for Life Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel English Muffin
1 Pink Lady Apple
1 tsp cinnamon
1 oz Tillamook Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Preheat Broiler on oven. Top english muffin with sliced apple and sprinkle with cinnamon. Add cheese and bake for 4-5 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from oven and Enjoy!
So I am convinced that my scale is broken. It has been extremely kind to me the last few days despite my pumpkin cake pig-outs. I may just be going through a good phase right now and I should not even be talking about it for fear of jinxing myself. With the holidays coming up it is hard to resist all the goodies and my plan is to not make myself crazy about the my weight. Enjoy some goodies in moderation and keep up the exercise. Balance my meals and try to fill up on more veggies. I noticed that my clients are already discussing the holidays and the fear of weight gain that accompanies that which I find sad because the holidays should not be about stress and weight gain. My mission this year is to keep the "circling" to a minimum, enjoy good food, friends and family. I am going to look for healthy alternatives in my baking and to share those with my clients so you don't have to feel stressed and deprived during the upcoming holidays. I am going to incorporate more pranayama (breathe work) into the workouts so we all having some coping skills to fall back to when we feel overwhelmed.
So that is my plan and I am sticking to it!
Have a wonderful afternoon and I will check back later.
Enjoy!
