Wine is good for you - and it can make for pretty room decor!

I’ve been wanting to get more into drinking wine lately. I’ve always been more of a “sweet” wine drinker though. A friend introduced me to Reislings, and I’ve been pretty addicted to those lately, but it’s been shown that one glass of red wine a day can actually have some health benefits.
A pivotal study published several years ago in journal Nature found that red wine inhibited the synthesis of a protein called endothelin-1 that can lead to the development of atherosclerosis, a build-up of fatty material along the artery walls.
Since then, other studies have shown that polyphenols in red wine, such as resveratrol, have cardioprotective effects, says the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.
British researchers found that red wines with higher levels of procyanidins, a type of polyphenol, have protective effects on blood vessels.
Researchers from the State University of New York at Stony Brook found a 68 percent reduction in the incidence of colorectal cancers and abnormal growths that can become cancerous among red wine drinkers.
Early research at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City on the effects of feeding Cabernet Sauvignon to mice suggests that moderate wine consumption may help prevent the sticky plaque build-up in the brain that is characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease.
So, according to specialists, drinking moderate amounts of red wine can have heart-health benefits and protect the body from cancer!
Now, this isn’t to say that you should be drinking a bottle to your head every night. Wine (especially sweeter wines) have sugars in them, and are therefore calorically pretty dense. Nevermind that when people tend to drink any kind of alcohol, they tend to eat more fatty and rich foods. So if you’re going to drink for health, stick to a glass a day - not a bottle a day!
So anyway, as I said, I’ve been thinking of getting into more wines. And I was looking for interesting wine racks and wine-related stuff and found this one by The Vine Store. It’s kind of different, don’t you think? I’m probably going to order one soon - once money shapes up a little for me.
Now, I’ve just got to get myself able to handle the dryness of cabernets or burgundys.
