Maybe because washing and peeling is required before eating most fruits and vegetables and this seems too much like actually cooking for most busy people.
I like to make a big fruit salad and keep it well covered in the fridge so it lasts for days. Watermelon balls, grapes, blueberries, strawberries all mixed together, yum! Bananas are best eaten fresh though as they tend to get mushy and brown after being opened, but the rest will stay for a few days. Cheers to our health!
