Who's to Blame for America's Obesity Epidemic? What a "Food Fight!" See "Dateline's" Special Tonight

Posted Dec 18 2008 8:12pm

Who is to blame for America's obesity epidemic? Should the corporations who make and market processed foods take the heat? What's more important -- personal or corporate responsiblity responsibility -- when weighing all those excess pounds? Should the food fight be taken to the court of law?

These topics and more will be discussed on NBC tonight (Friday, Aug. 18th at 8:00 PM ET/PT), in an hour-long "Dateline" special report, "Food Fight," with Stone Phillips.

The special will discuss:

  • The latest trends in food marketing to children
  • Whether fast food should come with warning labels
  • The budding science of food addiction.

Phillips also will interview top industry leaders from Kraft and McDonald's to get their take on corporate responsibility in the face of the obesity epidemic, how companies are addressing the issue, and the criticism.

MSNBC tells you about tonight's special.

Of course, I'll be watching this fascinating-sounding show -- which, incidentally, addresses some of the same topics that I spotlight in my upcoming book, SUGAR SHOCK!

Feel free to come back here and discuss it.
