Where to eat this weekend: Kampuchea

Posted Aug 12 2010 8:06am

We’re starting a new series.  Every Thursday we’ll recommend a new restaurant to try this weekend.  We might be health-crazed people here at The Pump, but we are also big foodies who enjoy experiencing different restaurants in the city.

This week–it’s Kampuchea , a four-year-old Cambodian restaurant on the LES that will sadly close its doors for good this Saturday, reports Grub Street .  Get there before it goes and ask your server to send out the following:

  • Grilled Corn (chili mayo, coconut flakes, chili powder)
  • Grilled Baby Back Pork Ribs (Tamarind glazed, pickles & cilantro lime sauce)
  • Mussels (sour & spicy broth, okra, shallots toasted baguette.
  • Cambodian vegetable stew (lemongrass, galangal*, dried anchovy, roasted rice)

*Galangal is a plant that is used in Asian cuisine and has a citrusy, piney taste profile.
