Where to Begin…Ohio.

Posted Feb 17 2012 2:09pm

I spent last weekend in Ohio visiting my boyfriend, Sean. We have a lot of things in common, but most of all we both like to eat. From the moment I got to Ohio we were planning our eating schedule for the weekend. As the discussion was going on Sean was already into the Turkey Pesto Sub I brought for him from Half Fast in Boulder.

Chelly Belly was the first stop. I got half of a panini (pesto mozzarella) and tomato basil soup, while Sean order a chicken salad sandwich with side of tomato basil soup. The soup was rich, but so good! I almost made the mistake of ordering a different soup, but Sean and the lady at the counter sold me on their “famous” tomato basil soup.

(Sean’s Meal)

That night we made our way to the Short North area in Columbus. The area was filled with lots of little cute shops. We stopped in a few, including one t-shirt store that Sean had been to before. In the shop they have a vintage coke machine with free “NO HIGH-FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP” coke… the real thing. Of course we had to try.

After we hurried from store to store (it was a little very cold out), we headed to Marcella’s for dinner. Apparently Marcella’s was the place to be because it was packed, but so worth the wait. We started off the meal with their “famous” braised veal meatball. I loved how this dish was presented in its own mini pot.

We almost had our first fight sharing this meatball.. just kidding. But it really was that good… melted in your mouth.

We also ordered margarita pizza with onions to start with… go big or go home.

But thankfully, we cut ourselves off the pizza to save room for the MAIN course. Sean went with Chicken Parmesan and I ordered the beet salad.

As you can see… we are both easily excited by food… oh and to see each other again!

Before we got too full.. we saved ourselves for dessert and took what was left home.

I have been waiting for this dessert for a long time now. Jeni’s Ice Cream . I actually have had Jeni’s before because my friend Beth sent pints of it to my house! They carry really exotic, yet delicious flavors… goat cheese with figs, wildberry lavender… just to name a few.

Somehow we both fit a little bit of ice cream into our stomachs and finally called it a night.
