55-60% of your daily diet should consist of carbohydrates, but they should be good carbs.  You want to consume complex carbohydrates from foods like fruits, vegetables and grains.  Avoid simple carbs from foods made with white flour, such as breads that aren't whole grain, pastas, cookies, cakes and crackers.  For some ideas, check out this list of  low carb foods from mother nature.
