
First, look at servings size and the sugar and sodium contents. Then, check out the fats, carbs and calories. If the sugar and sodium numbers are high then they will sabotage everything. Make sure there are no trans-fats or hydrogenated oils.
The ingredients should be few. Less is more. See where the sugars are coming from as fruit sugar is much different from processed sugars or artificial sweeteners. Artificial ingredients and isolated vitamin and mineral substitutes should be avoided. Look for whole food ingredients.

Calories, fat, carbs, sugar....I end up spending hours at the store trying to figure out if my food is as good for me as the packaging says it is! I know how food compaies use marketing tools such as "Heart Healthy" and "Only 100 Calories" to get people to think they are eating something healthy when it is filled with unhealthy ingredients. How can I decode without wasting so much time at the grocery store?
